Candy Lacquer Pretty Little Werewolf

If you don't already know, purple is my favorite color, for both polish and everything else. The mani I have today has tons of it and it also features my favorite indie brand, Candy Lacquer. I couldn't go without wearing at least one of their Halloween polishes this year. Without further ado here is Candy Lacquer Pretty Little Werewolf.

Pretty Little Werewolf was a limited edition glitter topper that has sadly been discontinued for a while but I was able to find my bottle in a blog sale, which seems to be the case for a good portion of my Candy Lacquers. It's a beautiful mix of white, pink, gray, and purple matte, metallic and holographic glitters in shapes which include hexes, moons, diamonds, and stars. I also really like that there's a few different shades of purple and pink and not just one kind.

For my base I used two coats of OPI A Grap Fit, which is without a doubt my most favorite purple creme in my collection. It was absolute perfection and it applied like a dream, just like it did the first time I used it. Love it! I left my bottle of Pretty Little Werewolf upside down for a bit before applying. With my first coat, not as much glitter came out as I was hoping but my second coat did the trick. I was able to get more than enough glitter out on my nails. I was especially happy that I got moons, stars, and circles out. Speaking of which, I love how the two big circles look on my middle finger nail. It was a happy accident! I used two coats of Rica Glossy Glam for a glassy smooth surface because some pieces of glitter were poking through.

By the way, the small chip on my middle finger nail was due to me dinging my nail before I had the chance to top coat it and because of that a piece of glitter flaked off, taking the base with it.

The picture in the sun was taken with my new iPod Touch 5 that I got over the summer. I just love how how it turned out!

Oh and here's a bottle shot of all of the gorgeous glitter!

I can't express how much I love Pretty Little Werewolf and this mani! It's girly and perfect for someone like me that loves purple and glitter. I'll be sad when I take it off today.

Candy Lacquer Birthday Girl

It's my 24th birthday today! These days it's more of a number than anything else but no matter how much older I get, I still feel like a kid at heart. Plus who doesn't love presents and cake? Today I am wearing my most recent Candy Lacquer, which I purposely bought so I could wear it on my birthday. Here is Birthday Girl!

Birthday Girl is the cutest mix of glitters. There's predominantly pink glitters but there's also a mix of red, blue, green, yellow, and purple glitters, all in various shapes and sizes. Some of the fun shapes include butterflies, stars, circles, and hexes. I layered two coats of Birthday Girl over two coats of Sinful Colors Sweet Nothing. At first I thought about layering it over either a pink or a purple, but I fell in love with over teal after swatching it on my nail wheel. I really like that I didn't go with a matchy matchy base. At first I wasn't crazy about how it looked after I applied a second coat of Birthday Girl. I felt like maybe there was too much glitter, but now I love it!

Formula wise, Birthday Girl was fairly easy to apply. I let my bottle sit upside down for a bit to help make application easier. Honestly though, Candy Lacquer polishes have great application regardless. I love that their base is thick enough that it keeps the glitter suspended and you don't have to dig to get a decent amount of glitter. The only thing that annoyed me is that some of the larger glitters stuck to each other. I've never really used the dabbing method before but on certain nails I had to. My nails are also shorter than they were a few days again due to peeling which caused a nail to break, so painting was a little harder this time. Dry time took a little longer than I would have liked but it was all good once I applied my Rica Glossy Glam top coat.

So there you have it, my birthday nails! I love them! I'm not sure what my plans are for today but I'm hoping it'll be a good day.

Candy Lacquer Frozen Treats

Unfortunately I'm sick again this week. I've been hit with a nasty cold. I feel miserable but I'm hoping it goes away soon. In the meantime, today I'm going to re-watch season 3 of Once Upon A Time on Netflix. Maybe that will make this cold a little more bearable.

Today I have another polish from my favorite indie brand, Candy Lacquer. It's called Frozen Treats. I believe it was one of the first polishes I ever bought from the brand but I can't recall for sure. I just remember how badly I had wanted it and I finally wore it for the first time a few weeks ago.

Frozen Treats is a fun mix of rainbow and white glitter mix in a clear base. It contains hexes, squares, and shreds in various sizes. I have always had great experiences with the Candy Lacquer polishes that I have worn in the past and Frozen Treats was no exception! I wore one coat of Frozen Treats over two, maybe three coats of Sinful Colors Pink Forever, which is a great pink creme if you're need of one. I got mine at my local Target. I topped it off with two coats of Rica Glossy Glam.

I'm slightly annoyed about the chip on my index finger but I'm pretty sure Pink Forever had already chipped somewhat before I added Frozen Treats on top. I wish I had applied it sooner. Either way, I just loved this combo so much and did not want to take it off. Frozen Treats is a cute summer polish that I'm so happy to own.

Since I didn't see Frozen Treats up in the shop, I messaged Sandra, the creator of Candy Lacquer, and found out that she was planning to discontinue it. Because I showed interest in it, she went ahead and listed it back in the shop. I don't know for sure if this means it's staying around for good but the last time I checked there were only a few bottles listed. As of right now the store is on hiatus since Sandra is getting ready to release Halloween polishes. The shop should be opened sometime this week.

Candy Lacquer Sugar Skulls

Today is my 200th post! I'm pretty happy about that. So what better to post than a polish from my favorite brand, Candy Lacquer. It is Sugar Skulls which I'm pretty sure was the first Candy Lacquer polish I ever wanted and bought. I finally wore it for the first time a few days ago. Here it is layered over Sinful Colors Sweet Nothing.

Sugar Skulls is a totally fun and beautiful mix of yellow flowers, pink and white hearts, and hex glitters in pink, yellow, white, teal, green, and opal/iridescent. The name of this one is perfect because the colors really do make me think of something sweet and sugary. I loved how well Sugar Skulls and Sweet Nothing went together.

As for the application I had no problems whatsoever. I turned my bottle upside down, as I do with most glitters, and it sure helped. The glitters came out with ease and coverage was perfect. As you can see, I was able to get a lot of the flowers and hearts on the nail. My right hand had a lot of them too. I used two coats of Sugar Skulls. I topped it off with two coats of my Rica Glossy Glam top coat.

I love this polish so much! I couldn't stop staring at my nails while wearing it. Something about it made me feel all happy inside. It was probably the cute flowers and hearts. I just love shaped glitter. Good news, it's still available in the shop!

Candy Lacquer Peyton

Hey, Happy Friday! Any exciting plans for the weekend? All I know is that on Saturday I'm going to be watching the LA Kings game. I sure hope they win.

Anyway, two days ago I posted Hit Polish Breakfast @ Tiffany's. While it's a gorgeous color, I wanted to give it more oomph in the holo department, so I went for my bottle of Candy Lacquer Peyton. Here is the result!

Peyton is a strong holographic top coat. It is incredibly gorgeous! It totally takes Breakfast @ Tiffany's to next level and while it does change the base color slightly, it's just right and not too drastic. What I love most is that it doesn't make the base too silvery. It's amazing in the sun and looks great in indoor lighting as well. I just used one thin coat of Peyton. It took a while to get some pictures that showed just how amazing the holo in Peyton is. For some reason my camera kept dulling the effect.

This was taken in my bedroom.

It took me the longest time to get my hands on Peyton but finding it in a blog sale was well worth the wait! I already have several colors that I'm going to try it over. Sadly, it is long gone from Candy Lacquer but there are several indies who offer holo top coats. If you're a holo lover, you need one!

My Never Ending Haul Part 4: Candy Lacquer!

Any fun plans for the weekend? I've gotten my niece McKenzie to watch a ton of super hero movies over the past few months and one of her favorites is the one and only Spider-man. She just loves him. She totally takes after me. Were actually going to see the new movie, The Amazing Spider-man 2 today. She's so excited but I just might be more excited than her.

I have the last part of my haul series today! It's all about my most favorite indie brand, Candy Lacquer! The last time I did a haul, I only owned one Candy Lacquer and as you can see, I have so many now. I just love my glitters! I've actually acquired some new ones that are not in this post but I will put them in a future haul. By the way, some of these are still available, while others are discontinued and harder to find. I got some from the actual website and others through various blog sales. Here they are!

Here's Gumdrops & Lollipops. I almost forgot to add it in the post.

So there you have it, my collection of Candy Lacquers! I really really need to start wearing these. Also, I can't say this enough but if you haven't tried this brand out yet, you totally should. To be even more of an enabler, a few of the polishes are on sale in the store. Check them out here.

Sally Hansen In Record Lime & Candy Lacquer Rolling In The Clover

Happy St. Patrick's Day! I've had a pretty good day so far. I got an email earlier telling that I won a giveaway for a beautiful polish that I cannot wait to share with you and I get to eat some yummy corned beef and cabbage for dinner! The Irish in me loves it. I am a bit late posting my green mani for today. I had plans to post an entirely different look but due to a troublesome formula, I went in another direction. I'm so glad I did. Here is Sally Hansen In Record Lime with my newest Candy Lacquer Rolling In The Clover!

In Record Lime is easily one of the best greens I have. I really like the color, although it might not be the most exciting green I have but oh my, the formula was such a dream to work with! It was crazy opaque on the first coat but I did use a second to cover up the few bare spots I had. It also dried super fast! I was so impressed. Sadly, I do not believe it's available anymore. Now for the glitter topper! Rolling In The Clover is one of the newest additions by Candy Lacquer and I just had to have it. It's so gorgeous! It's a green and gold glitter in a clear base. It's made up of metallic and holo circles and hexagons, and clovers! It even came with a small bag of extra clovers. All of the glitters came out with ease. I didn't have to fish for any of them. I even managed to get a clover on my index nail. The base itself was a little thick so drying time took a little longer, but since that is expected, I didn't mind.

By the way, I also used my new top coat, Rica Glossy Glam, for the first time. I like it a lot! It made my glitter smooth to the touch in two coats. I totally recommend it if you're looking to get a new top coat.

This is In Record Lime by itself. It has a nice shimmer but it's very subtle. No top coat was used here.

I'm in love with this combo! Both polishes are gorgeous by themselves but they are beautiful together. I especially love Rolling In The Clover. Circle glitter is awesome! It's still available over at Candy Lacquer but it's limited edition, so grab it while you can.

Candy Lacquer Love-ly Lavender

Today I am back with a very pretty glitter from my favorite indie brand, Candy Lacquer. I was so beyond excited when I found a bottle in a blog sale a few weeks back. I was all over it! Here is Candy Lacquer Love-ly Lavender from last years Valentine's Day collection.

Love-ly Lavender is a beautiful mix of purple, periwinkle, silver, and holo glitters in a clear base. The glitters include squares, hexagons, bar glitters, and even cute hearts. There's also the prettiest blueish purple shimmer. I didn't have to dig for any of the glitters. I only managed to get one heart out but I didn't mind because of how much of the other glitter I was able to get on the nail. It had awesome coverage in just the one coat that I used. I layered it over Essence Oh My Glitter! Two coats of top coat made my nails completely smooth.

I'm so in love with Love-ly Lavender and I'm especially in love with how it looks over Oh My Glitter! It's now one of my favorite glitter combos I've ever done. I kept staring at my nails while wearing it. I'm sorry to say that Love-ly Lavender is no longer in stock over at Candy Lacquer. The collection was limited edition, so I'm pretty sure it's discontinued. On the bright side Candy Lacquer has so many other amazing glitters to choose from.

Candy Lacquer Sweet Hearts

I feel like a broken record, but today I have another cute and girly mani that is perfect for Valentine's Day! Here's Candy Lacquer Sweet Hearts layered over the last mani I posted, NYC Pink Champagne and CoverGirl Pink Twinkle!

Sweet Hearts has light and darker pink glitters in various shapes and sizes, such as hexagons, squares, really tiny bars, and cute hearts. I love this mix! It's so adorable. I'm so glad I was able to get my bottle from a blog sale, which lately, have become my weakness. I used one coat of Sweet Hearts, plus a second coat of dabbing. I love how this combination turned out. Sweet Hearts applied very well and I didn't have to fish for any of the glitters. I was able to get a heart out for all but two nails, which made me really happy. It dried bumpy, so I needed three coats of top coat to make it completely smooth.

Even though I really don't celebrate Valentine's Day, I still love all of the cute polishes you see this time of year! I just love all of the hearts and flower glitters. So far I'm not tired of pink polishes. I have a few more that I'll be showing as Valentine's Day gets closer.

Candy Lacquer Sugar Flowers

Hey everyone! How has your week been so far? Mine has been pretty great. I recently found out that my younger sister is going to be a mommy. I cannot wait to be an auntie again! I personally hope she has a boy, but above all, I just want her to have a healthy baby.

I love it when you're able to turn one mani into several manis just by adding a new polish to it. With my Wet n Wild How I Met Your Magenta and CoverGirl Pink Twinkle mani, I was able to do just that by adding a glitter that I'm going to show you today. Here's Candy Lacquer Sugar Flowers!

Sugar Flowers is the first Candy Lacquer I ever bought but I just counted the other day and I now have 40 something of their polishes, more than any other brand. They're easily one of my favorites. Sugar Flowers is a very pretty glitter with flowers in dark pink, light pink, yellow, and blueish white, hexes in various sizes in the same colors, and some iridescent glitters too. Like I said, I layered it on top of the mani I last posted and I love how it turned out! I think the pink golden base goes perfectly with the colors in Sugar Flowers. Formula wise, it was very easy to apply. What you see is just one coat. I did have some trouble getting the flowers out but that's expected when you have larger pieces of glitter. I topped everything off with two coats of my Orly top coat.

I think this is one of my favorite manis I've created so far this year! I couldn't take my eyes off it. I even got a few compliments while at work. If you love glitter, I totally recommend that you check out Candy Lacquer! Sandra makes the absolute best glitter combinations I've seen.
