Candy Lacquer Pretty Little Werewolf

If you don't already know, purple is my favorite color, for both polish and everything else. The mani I have today has tons of it and it also features my favorite indie brand, Candy Lacquer. I couldn't go without wearing at least one of their Halloween polishes this year. Without further ado here is Candy Lacquer Pretty Little Werewolf.

Pretty Little Werewolf was a limited edition glitter topper that has sadly been discontinued for a while but I was able to find my bottle in a blog sale, which seems to be the case for a good portion of my Candy Lacquers. It's a beautiful mix of white, pink, gray, and purple matte, metallic and holographic glitters in shapes which include hexes, moons, diamonds, and stars. I also really like that there's a few different shades of purple and pink and not just one kind.

For my base I used two coats of OPI A Grap Fit, which is without a doubt my most favorite purple creme in my collection. It was absolute perfection and it applied like a dream, just like it did the first time I used it. Love it! I left my bottle of Pretty Little Werewolf upside down for a bit before applying. With my first coat, not as much glitter came out as I was hoping but my second coat did the trick. I was able to get more than enough glitter out on my nails. I was especially happy that I got moons, stars, and circles out. Speaking of which, I love how the two big circles look on my middle finger nail. It was a happy accident! I used two coats of Rica Glossy Glam for a glassy smooth surface because some pieces of glitter were poking through.

By the way, the small chip on my middle finger nail was due to me dinging my nail before I had the chance to top coat it and because of that a piece of glitter flaked off, taking the base with it.

The picture in the sun was taken with my new iPod Touch 5 that I got over the summer. I just love how how it turned out!

Oh and here's a bottle shot of all of the gorgeous glitter!

I can't express how much I love Pretty Little Werewolf and this mani! It's girly and perfect for someone like me that loves purple and glitter. I'll be sad when I take it off today.

OPI A Grape Fit

Hey! How was your weekend? I hope it was a great one. Mine was really nice. I worked on Saturday and then on Sunday I was off. I went shopping with the family and ate a nice lunch after. Then last night my LA Kings beat the Chicago Blackhawks in game 7 during overtime and now they're going to the Stanley Cup Final! It was such a thrilling game and I almost had multiple heart attacks. I cannot wait for the last and final series to start.

When compared to my glitters, I don't have a large amount of cremes in my collection. They've never been my absolute favorite because usually given the choice I gravitate toward sparkly and glittery shades. Still, cremes are beautiful in their own right and today I have an amazing one that I absolutely love. Here is OPI A Grape Fit.

A Grape Fit is a beautiful medium grape creme. While I don't have them to compare, A Grape Fit is darker than OPI Do You Lilac It? and much lighter than China Glaze Grape Pop. It's pretty much perfect if you don't want something too pale or too dark. The formula was seriously fantastic! It might have the best formula in a creme that I've ever tried. It applied beautifully and evenly on the nail. It was nearly opaque in just one coat but I needed a second to make it completely opaque. I hardly had any clean up at all, which is always something I'm happy about.

Purples are my favorites and A Grape Fit is perfect! I already put a glittter on top of it but I'll be showing that in my next post. Stay tuned for that! In the mean time, I hope your week is off to a great start!

Hit Polish Luscious Lavender

Hi everyone! I apologize for being awfully quiet around here but at the same time, I wasn't feeling up to painting my nails. I've been doing other things like spending time with my family, watching my LA Kings in the playoffs, as well as taking the time to read. I finally got around to reading the book The Fault In Our Stars by John Green, which was such a great but very sad book. Now I'm excited to see the movie.

To make up for being absent, I have a pretty polish to show you. It's Hit Polish Luscious Lavender. Before I get started, let me just say that Hit Polish closed down indefinitely a few months ago but the owner, Rachel has re-opened her shop up today! One of the returning colors is Luscious Lavender, which happens to be a spectraflair. Rachel explained on her Facebook that most of her original recipes were thrown away so she tried to make this polish, along with a few others, as closely as possible. Anyway, here it is!

I'm swooning over how gorgeous Luscious Lavender is! I love purples and this one is perfect. As much as I love strong holos, I also really like subtle ones as well. Luscious Lavender is kind of in the middle. It's much stronger than the photos are showing though. You really have to see it in person. The formula was great. It was thick and creamy, but in a good way, and covered my nails in just two coats. No top coat was used.

So, it's no surprise that I love Luscious Lavender. It's a beautiful polish that has an awesome formula on top of that. I am so excited over the opening of the shop and I especially can't wait to get my hands on some of the spectraflairs.

Whimsical Ideas by Pam Flower Child

Sometimes I feel like the worst blogger in the world. I've been feeling so lazy when it comes to posting. That and I've been watching non-stop episodes of one of my favorite shows, Gossip Girl on Netflix. I'm just about done with season two. Today have a really pretty polish that I bought from a blog sale many weeks ago. Here's Whimsical Ideas by Pam Flower Child.

Flower Child is a lavender crelly with pink and purple glitters. I absolutely love everything about it, from the base color to the glitters which are beautiful. I really like that Flower Child is soft and delicate but it's far from boring. I think it's perfect for those days when you want to wear something that's beautiful but subtle. It had a really awesome formula. It was opaque in two coats but I felt the need to add a third. It dried with a really great shine and smoothness, but I still used a coat of top coat, as usual. I painted my nails on a day that was somewhat sunny but I didn't take pictures until the next day, which was a rainy and gloomy one. Just my luck. The last one was taken in my bedroom.

I am so in love with Flower Child! I am really impressed with my first polish from Whimsical Ideas by Pam. I've been wanting to try this brand for a while. By the way, Flower Child is being discontinued so if you want it, now's your chance.

Candy Lacquer Love-ly Lavender

Today I am back with a very pretty glitter from my favorite indie brand, Candy Lacquer. I was so beyond excited when I found a bottle in a blog sale a few weeks back. I was all over it! Here is Candy Lacquer Love-ly Lavender from last years Valentine's Day collection.

Love-ly Lavender is a beautiful mix of purple, periwinkle, silver, and holo glitters in a clear base. The glitters include squares, hexagons, bar glitters, and even cute hearts. There's also the prettiest blueish purple shimmer. I didn't have to dig for any of the glitters. I only managed to get one heart out but I didn't mind because of how much of the other glitter I was able to get on the nail. It had awesome coverage in just the one coat that I used. I layered it over Essence Oh My Glitter! Two coats of top coat made my nails completely smooth.

I'm so in love with Love-ly Lavender and I'm especially in love with how it looks over Oh My Glitter! It's now one of my favorite glitter combos I've ever done. I kept staring at my nails while wearing it. I'm sorry to say that Love-ly Lavender is no longer in stock over at Candy Lacquer. The collection was limited edition, so I'm pretty sure it's discontinued. On the bright side Candy Lacquer has so many other amazing glitters to choose from.

Essence Oh My Glitter!

Purple is my favorite color, so I love it polish form . I have a really pretty one to show you today. It's actually now one of my top favorite purples. Here's Essence Oh My Glitter! which I picked up at an ULTA during the summer.

Despite the name, Oh My Glitter! has no glitter at all but instead a super pretty shimmer. I tried my best at capturing it in a picture but it's so much better in person. It's something you have to see for yourself. This was my first time using an Essence polish and I have to say, I'm really impressed. I don't know why but I was half expecting it to be sheer but it had such great coverage on the first coat. It was completely opaque after I added a second. Application could not have been easier. The brush was a tad wide but I have wide nails, so it didn't cause any problems. I was also pleased with how fast it dried. I topped it with one coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat.

Oh My Glitter! is all kinds of awesome. It's beautiful, easy to apply, and very affordable at only $1.99. If you're a purple lover, go and give this beauty a chance!

Venique Gotta Have It!

So I've decided to put myself on a serious no buy. I've been spending way too much money on polish lately. I've also been thinking about having a blog sale. I've already gathered some polishes I'm considering selling. I'll keep you updated when I decide what to do. Today I have a new polish from a new to me brand. It's Venique Gotta Have It!, which I picked up at CosmoProf, along with two others from the same collection. Here it is!

Gotta Have It! is a predominantly gold glittery base with purple glitter of the same size. It's beautiful! I was so mesmerized by it in the bottle. The same could be said about the other two I got. As for the finish, I'm assuming it's a texture because it dried to a rough sandy finish. I found some information about the collection online but not much. Either way, it was a nice surprise. The formula was pretty impressive. It flowed onto the nail with ease and was fast drying for me. What you see are two coats of Gotta Have It! I couldn't help but put top coat on it and I really like the way it looked after. It took two thick coats of top coat to get the smooth finish I was looking for.

Here's Gotta Have It! with two coats of top coat.

It has major sparkle in the sun!

Gotta Have It! is one of the prettiest textures I've worn. Now I'm excited to try the other two. I honestly don't know where else Venique polishes are sold. I've only ever seen them at CosmoProf. If you happen to come across this color, I say give it a shot.

Sation Lollipop! Goes The Princess

Hey! I'm off for a few days, so I've finally had some spare time to do my nails. Today I have a really simple but pretty creme to show you. Sation Lollipop! Goes The Princess probably has one of the cutest polish names I've come across. It's from their 2013 collection Candylandia. It's a very pretty lavender creme. It applied like a dream in two easy breezy coats, dried fairly fast, and I barely had any clean up.

However, something very weird happened when I added a coat of my Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat. It went from being a super light purple, which almost looked blue, to a darker lavender shade. When compared to the color in the bottle and my right hand thumb, which had no top coat at the time, they looked like two completely different colors. It looks as if I've layered a sheer purple jelly on top. It's hard to tell in my photos but it's much more noticeable in person. I've never had a problem with my top coat before, so I'm not sure what caused this.

Despite the weirdness I experienced with this polish, the color is still gorgeous! I love purple, so obviously I love it. Next time I will test out my top coat to see if I come across the same problem. I'm going to look for a pretty glitter to use on top and then I'll be back with another post. Until then, I hope you're having a great weekend!

Morgan Taylor All The Right Moves

My Orly Fowl Play mani had barely any chips, so I didn't want to take it off, but I was getting bored and wanted a new look. So, I grabbed my bottle of Morgan Taylor All The Right Moves and made the decision to layer it on top. Here is the result!

All The Right Moves is a dark purple jelly with dark purple, blue glitter. It's quite beautiful! The glitter definitely isn't lacking. I have a handful of Morgan Taylor polishes but this is the first one I've worn and I'm impressed with it. It was such a pain to photograph though, as purples can be at times. It isn't as blue as it looks in pictures. Application was easy, even though the polish was a bit thick because of the amount of glitter in it. I only had to use one layer over Fowl Play. It dried a bit bumpy and was lacking shine so top coat was a must. I used a coat of Gelous and one coat of my Orly top coat and it became smooth.

I'm happy I made an impulse decision to use All The Right Moves over Fowl Play. Now, I can't wait to wear my other Morgan Taylor polishes!

Orly Fowl Play

I finally got one of my biggest lemmings last weekend! I have been wanting Fowl Play ever since it came out. I managed to find it at T.J. Maxx in an Orly two pack, for about $7.99, which is an awesome deal. I painted my nails with it on Thursday night, but I was so tired from my overnight shift, that between each coat, I would lay on the couch, waiting for it to dry and ended up falling asleep each time. After the second coat and the second nap, I decided to call it a night. I ended up finishing the mani the next afternoon. Here are the pictures!

I loveee Fowl Play. It has a lot of great things going on. It is a dark purple jelly base that is filled with flakies that shift from green to orange, and blue micro-glitter. I can't stop staring at my nails. The flakies are gorgeous and truly take this polish to the next level. It's also a perfect dark shade for fall. I'm sure most of you already know that Fowl Play is a dupe of OPI Midnight Merry, which isn't the easiest polish to get your hands on. The formula was pretty great, it was really easy to work with. It was sheer on the first coat and a little patchy, but I already expected that, being that it's a jelly. The second coat covered everything up quite nicely and the third made it completely opaque. The drying time was decent as well. I did get a few small dents in my nail after my first coat, but the blanket I fell asleep with on the couch is to blame. None of them are evident now, thankfully. I topped everything off with one coat of my Orly top coat.

And just because here is a picture of Carter, now 5 months old and 38 pounds! I still can't get over the fact that he's mine.

Anyway, I can't believe it's taken me this long to get Fowl Play. Now that I think about it, I really don't know what was stopping me from going out and buying it, but I think the wait was definitely worth it! It's such a gorgeous polish and aside from its dupe, it's quite unique. I love it.

Windestine Heartbeat Swatch & Review!

Las Vegas was fun, but I'm happy to be back so that I can post. I'm very excited to share this post I have for you today! I was asked about two weeks ago if I wanted to review some polishes from the new Windestine collection inspired by Little Women. I don't remember if I've read the book, but I definitely remember the movie. It was one of my favorites growing up. I had such a big crush on Laurie, played by Christian Bale. Anyway, this marks the first time I've been asked to do a review for an indie brand, or any brand for that matter. I was sent three of the polishes from the collection to review and today I have the first one to show you. Without further ado, here is Heartbeat!

Heartbeat is a purple crelly that has purple, magenta, and copper glitter. According to the description, Heartbeat is inspired by Beth of Little Women. It is so gorgeous!! Purple is one of my favorite colors and this one is fabulous. The shimmer is without a doubt the best part of this polish. It adds a beautiful glow. Unfortunately, I had a hard time capturing just how awesome it is. It's so much better in person. For swatches, I layered one coat of Heartbeat over two coats of China Glaze Grape Pop, which I think makes a great base. I have no doubts that it would look beautiful worn by itself. Formula wise, Heartbeat was fantastic. It wasn't too thick or thin and the application was smooth and trouble free. I topped it off with one coat of my Orly topcoat.

I'm very impressed with Heartbeat! It's such a gorgeous color. The other two I have are just as pretty and I can't wait to show you swatches of them. Head on over to Windestine if you love this color and want to purchase it for yourself!

Sephora By OPI Eve-y On The Eyes

I was busy all last week with work, so I barely had time to paint my nails, but this week has been much better. Unfortunately my nails are super short nubs, thanks to my job. I'm really sad that they're so short, I can't wait until they grow out. Anyway, today I have Sephora Eve-y On The Eyes, which I found at Marshalls a few weeks ago.

Sephora By OPI Eve-y On The Eyes is from the Garden of Good and Evil from last year. It's a dark purple with beautiful shimmer and it is gorgeous! My heart skipped a beat after doing a test swatch on my nail. I really love it. I couldn't capture the shimmer all that well, but it's so much better in person. The formula was really good. I only used three coats, but a third wouldn't have hurt.

I guess I wasn't paying attention to this beauty when it was originally released, but I'm glad I now have it. I almost left with it's super similar sister, Sephora By OPI Who's Spinning Tonight? but I'm more than happy with my choice.

Color Club Wild At Heart

I have officially reached 100 posts! Today I have one of my favorite polishes that happens to be an awesome holo, Club Wild At Heart. It's the namesake from the 2009 collection and was my first polish from the brand. I've worn it before, but this is the first time I'm sharing it on my blog. It has been rather gloomy here in California for the past few days but the sun finally showed up yesterday and I was able to get some nice pictures.

Purple is one of my favorite colors and this one is amazing! I absolutely love it. It's so deep and rich. Of course the holo effect is absolutely gorgeous too. It is scattered but more than noticeable. It's strong in the bottle alone. It seriously has one of the best formulas I've ever worked with. It went on like butter, so creamy and easy to apply. What you see is just one coat! The drying time was decent as well. It's pure perfection and I couldn't be happier.

 Without topcoat:

The first time I wore Wild At Heart, I couldn't keep my eyes off it and it's definitely the same story this time! I'm happy to have this beauty in my stash. It's a definite must have from Color Club in my opinion.

China Glaze When Stars Collide

I have my last China Glaze Hologlam polish to show you today! Color wise, it is probably the most unique out of the three that I got and in the entire collection for that matter. It is When Stars Collide.

When Stars Collide is a dark maroon polish with a linear holographic effect. Like I said, it is very unique. I've never seen a holo in this color before. I really like that China Glaze didn't just give us any old purple, even though the purple lover in me probably would have liked it no matter what. The formula was just like the rest. It was relatively easy to work with and as with the other two, I only needed two coats. Again, no top coat was used.

So, that's all my Hologlam polishes! It's hard to choose a favorite because I genuinely love each of them, but it is probably a tie between When Stars Collide and Galactic Gray. I must say though, I wasn't blown away by the collection as a whole. For the price of $14, the holo should be much stronger. Luckily, I got mine for a little less than half that, so I'm not upset, nor is my wallet, but I'm not sure I would have paid full price. With the exception of the darker ones in the collection, the colors aren't terribly unique either. They're definitely pretty, but not worth $14. Still, I'm happy with the three that I have and I don't regret purchasing them.

Are you planning on getting anything from the Hologlam collection or just skipping it altogether?

Urban Outfitters Oyster

A few weeks ago I purchased two of my first Urban Outfitters nail polishes. The first one, Mystic was one that I already knew I wanted before going, but the second, I got for no real reason other than I needed a polish to take part in the 2 for $8 and it was a pretty choice. Without further ado, here is Oyster!

In one word Oyster can be described as gorgeous! It is a sheer topcoat packed with a beautiful mixture of pink and purple glass fleck like shimmer. I love moving the bottle around and looking at the flash of colors. In my pictures it is layered over China Glaze Fancy Pants, which already has beautiful pink shimmer, so the two together ended up being a perfect match. If it looks this good over purple, I can't wait to see how it looks over black.

The polish was really easy to work with, I have no complaints. It wasn't thin, but not terribly thick either. I only needed one coat to get the desired look. As for the drying time, it wasn't super fast but I can deal with that.

I'm so, so glad I picked up Oyster! As far as I know, I have nothing else like it. If you go to Urban Outfitters often, I recommend checking this one out. It's a great layering polish that I'm sure would look amazing over different colors.

China Glaze Fancy Pants

I didn't plan on getting anything from the China Glaze Avant Garden collection. It's not that the colors aren't beautiful, they are, and I definitely could use some pastels in my collection, but I didn't feel like I absolutely needed any of them. Then, I saw Fancy Pants in person and I had to get it!

Fancy Pants is kind of complex. Is it purple, is it blue? Sometimes it looks more purple to me, but it definitely leans blue. It looks different in certain lighting. I must say this polish is insanely gorgeous! The pinky purple shimmer really takes it to the next level. I had some trouble capturing it in photos, so trust me when I say this, it is much better in person.

The formula was awesome. It was buttery and easy to apply. I only needed two coats for opacity. There was hardly any clean up either, which was an added bonus.

Fancy Pants is a must have from the Avant Garden collection in my opinion! This might be one of my favorite China Glaze polishes so far this year.

Milani Hi-Res

I've been wanting to to wear a holo but it hasn't always been sunshine here in California. Finally the gloomy, rainy weather is gone and it is now sunny! Normally I usually gravitate toward untried polishes, but I made an exception today with the holo, Milani Hi-Res, which I wore before my blogging days.

Hi-Res is a scattered purple holo from the Milani 3D Holographic collection, which consists of 6 polishes, all of which I own. I love purple so I'm very biased when it comes to Hi-Res. While the holo effect isn't as strong as other holo polishes out there, it's still very evident and gorgeous in the sunlight and indoors. It's much better in person. The best apart about this polish is that it only cost me $4.

The formula was really good. It was thin, easy to control, and fast drying. It can get a little patchy, as some holos do, but it has yet to cause a problem for me. It is sheer but for me, it was good at two coats but I did three just to be sure.

I recommend Hi-Res, as well as the rest of the collection, to anyone who wants a holo that is both gorgeous and affordable. I believe you can still find them at CVS, but if not, they're on the website, Cherry Culture and retail for $3.99.

Milani Orchidia

Purple is my favorite color but I don't seem to have enough of it in polish form, so it's always a good thing when I find one to add to my stash. I've been wanting Milani Orchidia for quite some time, so I'm happy that I finally now have it.

Orchidia is one of the prettiest purples that I have. It's a bright violet with silver shimmer. I love, love it. The shade of purple is super gorgeous and flattering. Not to mention, it's unique, at least in my stash.

It was a little thick but it wasn't a pain to work with. It was actually kind of buttery. I used three coats and one coat of top coat.

Orchidia is the perfect purple for me. If you love purple, I'm sure you'll love this one just as much as I do.
